AVON, OH (TM216) — Strong pitching from Adam Quintana (3-2) leads Lake Erie to a 5-1 victory of the Southern Illinois Miners.
For six innings Lake Erie had the Miners offense exactly where they wanted it, zeroes in the scoreboard. For Adam Quintana, who had dropped his previous two outings seems to have found his stride.
Help offensively cames in the bottom of the fifth when Brandon Murray scored on a bases loaded Parker Norris Walk. Next batter, next run. Tanner Lubach scores on a Connor Olliver walk and Lake Erie grabbed the lead 2-0.
The Miners close Lake Erie’s lead to 2-1 on a Willi Martin sixth inning RBI, but that lead would quickly increase yet again. Lake Erie’s final three runs all come in the bottom of the eighth on a Tanner Lubach three run homer which also scored Cody Lenahan and Sean Hurley.
Quinana’s strong day would come to an end giving up only two hits and one earned run while ranking five strike outs.
At this point in the season Lake Erie is six games back in Frontier League’s East Division standings. Pitching performances like this will help their cause as we push toward the middle of June.
Next up for the Crushers, another matchup with Southern Illinois on Thursday.
