CLEVELAND, OH (TM216) — The wait is over and Billy Joel has been announced as the ‘major’ act set to rock Progressive Field this Summer.
On Wednesday, the world of Cleveland music was put on ice (figuratively and litterally) when it was announced that the Indians, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and LiveNation would be revealing a ‘major’ concert coming to Progressive Field in summer 2017.
On Thursday, we learned that the major act will be none other than hall of gamer, Billy Joel!
For those that may have been hoping for a more modern artist, this may have come as a bit of an underwhelming reveal. However, those fans of 70’s and 80’s music THIS IS AWESOME! Also, it’s a great opportunity to see the 1999 inductee to the Rock HOF.
Friday, July 14th 2017 the “Piano Man” will return Cleveland to the stadium concert scene. In recent years, several tours that have called stadium’s home, opted for Quicken Loans Arena over Cleveland Browns Stadium or Progressive Field. Both Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour and Guns and Roses The Total Package Tour had been rocking outdoor venues outside of Cleveland.
Cleveland used to be home to the World Series of Rock at Cleveland Municiple Stadium. However, since the opening of the Rock Hall back in 1995, Cleveland outdoor concerts have been dominated by country music and a the occassional boy band (*Nsync 2001, One Direction 2016).
Tickets range from roughly $50 to roughly $140. Tickets on sale Friday, January 13th with an American Express presale on Thursday the 12th.
